Thovarimala is one of the hillocks of Wayanad which is not very popular yet beautiful. Thovarimala can be reached by a 20 to 30 minutes drives from Sulthan Bathery. The ride through a plantation of mixed crops will take you uphill and the view awaits there is more than just awesome. It is required to get permission from the plantation officials in order to visit Thovarimala viewpoint as it is a private place not open for public. The journey uphill involves thrilling off road driving through private estate roads and forest.
The best time to visit Thovarimala is in the evenings. Plan to reach the top by evening to witness and experience the sunset from hilltop. Viewing sunset from Thovarimala is an experience which cannot be expressed in words(though you could find some pictures in the gallery.)
The vegetation there makes it a pleasant feeling to spend end of evening at the hilltop. Breath some clear air and forget all stress of day watching the sundown. Expect the nature to be a little chiller than elsewhere in Wayanad. A rare historic sight of a remotely located rock shelter with stone age carvings are also located nearby Thovarimala.
